Prizes will be awarded during the post ride pasta party; prize winners must be present in order to receive their prizes. Prizes will not be mailed to participants who are not present. The overall winners will also receive an authentic Giro d’Italia leaders jersey, as awarded to the race leaders in the Giro d’Italia Professional Race; these are not reproductions or souvenir jerseys; they are the real deal, straight from the Giro’s warehouse!

Note: In order for a rider to be eligible for a KOM or QOM prize, a rider must start and finish the event within the prescribed times and ride the entire course. Judges scoring is final. If a rider does not wear a timing chip during their ride, a time will not be collected, and the rider will not be eligible for prizes.

The GPM will take place on Upper Big Tujunga Cyn Rd. in the Angeles National Forest. According to RideWithGPS.com, it is approximately 8.2 miles long and has a total elevation gain of approximately 1950’. Is it the longest or hardest climb on the routes? Probably not, but the timed section is undulating, with grades up to at least 12.6%. It will be a challenge for all, but most importantly it is on both the Medium (mile 31.8 & Long Courses (mile 57.6).

The map can be also seen HERE

Please remember that you are on roads that are open to traffic, so obey all rules of the road, stay to the right at all times, and exercise caution when passing other riders. This challenge is for personal satisfaction; it is not a race in the true sense of the word. The timing mats will be as far to the right as possible; there may be cones placed in the roadway. Make sure you stay to the right in order to cross the timing mats at the start & finish of the timed sections. A failure to cross the timing mats means that your time will not be recorded properly, and you will be ineligible for any prizes.
